Why do you need
a Service Contract?
Why should I have
a service contract?
Without effective maintenance
even the best equipment will deteriorate.
If you are relying on a system to save
your life in the event of a fire or detect
an intruder then you have to be sure that
the system is fully functional by having
regular preventative maintenance checks
carried out by a qualified company. Quite
simply, preventative maintenance means
peace of mind.
What are the health and
safety issues regarding maintenance contracts?
BS5839, the standard for fire alarms recommends
that systems are checked 4 times a year.
Do I have to have
my CCTV system maintained?
The new Data Protection
Act Code of Practice for CCTV (2000) states
that maintenance should be undertaken
on a regular basis in order to ensure
that clear images are recorded.
"The devices
provided in respect of the workplace shall
be subject to a system of maintenance
and be maintained in good order"
Statutory Instrument 1840. British Standard
5266 also states that emergency lighting
should be regularly maintained.
